TU Tuesday - Local

http://www.guilderlandspotlight.com/news/2012/may/28/market-market-buy/

To market, to market to buy ...

Not that spring is coming there are more farmers markets opening. Most recently CDPHP just opened this years farmers market. "This is the market’s fifth year and with seven new vendors added to the lineup, it’s also its largest yet." Farmers markets offer a variety of everything which is why they are popular "from fresh produce to baked goods to handmade bath products and jewelry.". There are some new vendors this year like "Allan Ditton Pottery (handmade pottery), Bakeforu (cookies, scones and cupcakes), Dutch Desserts (European-style fruit tarts), Honeybee Farm (cheeses, eggs, garlic, honey and hummus), Ali Hermann Artwork & Jewelry (handmade pieces) and Scarecrow Farm (wool, yarn, honey, eggs and assorted vegetables). " A really nice thing about farmers markets all around the district not just the CDPHP ones is that they all offer "fresh, local food".

6.Should Memorial Day be a time to remember only veterans or all those who have died?

Memorial day should be about celebrating both. They both fought side by side and did as much work as the other and deserve as much credit although the dead have given up more than the living. Regardless of what happened they both should be honored for the fact that they served our country.

What is Crippling Us?

Gatto presents his claim with personal experience and his own personal findings. Bradbury creates his own personal world set in the future based off societies trends at the current time. I'm more persuaded by Bradbury to believe him because he makes valid points especially because of how close the world he depicted is to mdern day. The gang fights today relate to how Clarisse was scared of her own age. "I'm afraid of children my own age. They kill each other. Did it always used to be that way? My uncle says no. Six of my friends have been shot in the last year alone. Ten of them died in car wrecks. I'm afraid of them and they don't like me because I'm afraid. My uncle says his grandfather remembered when children didn't kill each other. But that was a long time ago when they had things different."(30) Another aspect I agree with is how people seem to forget the small things in hte world. "'Bet I know something else you don't. There's dew on the grass in the morning.' He suddenly couldn't remember if he had known this or not, and it made him quite irritable.
'And if you look'—she nodded at the sky—'there's a man in the moon.' He hadn't looked for a long time." (9) Bradbury gives you metaphors and a story behind his thoughts on society which make them easier to connect to than Gatto's blatant facts. Gatto talks alot about the history of schooling "Mass schooling of a compulsory nature really got its teeth into the United States between 1905 and 1915, though it was conceived of much earlier and pushed for throughout most of the nineteenth century" He clearely researched his topic and attacked it from the right points, by studying the history to find where we are now. He also quotes Alexander Inglis's 1918 book, Principles of Secondary Education when he said "School is meant to determine each student's proper social role" which I can completely agree with. In school you learn  about your options after high school and where you could take your life. You learn what you want to be when you're older while you're in school and you carry that with you when you leave high school.

I would choose Bam Margera because hes absolutley amazing and he seems like he would be the chillest dad. I would want two dads because I feel like thats something people should embrace and not be afraid to raise kids in that environment so I would also choose Travis Pastrana because I love dirt biking and riding and being able to just go crazy.

TU Tuesday - Commencement Speech.

http://www.graduationwisdom.com/speeches/0086-obrien.htm
http://www.graduationwisdom.com/speeches/0091-washington.htm

Conan talked alot about life lessons. I foudnwhat said to be extremely true even though I may not have much experience."One’s dream is constantly evolving, rising and falling, changing course". When I was little I wanted to be a science teacher. Now I want to be a doctor. Our interestes change in life."It is our failure to become our perceived ideal that ultimately defines us and makes us unique" This is a quote I found very inspiring because it is so true. If everyone was perfect at what they did they would all be the same.He also talked alot about being prepared for failure. "whether you fear it or not, disappointment will come" He was very positive about all of it though and talked very deeply from personal experience.
"Work hard, be kind, and amazing things will happen" Kindess can go a long way. I agree with everything that Conan pointed out here. As Denzel Washington said "If you don’t fail, you’re not even trying". These speeches are made to give them inspiration and insight into the world they're about to enter. I believe everything they've pointed out is true.

What are these people celebrating?
They've just won the lottery and bought the biggest bed they could find with the fluffiest pillows and had the best pillow fight of their life. They'll burn out their savings pretty quick on useless junk and eventually become broke.

Creative Contest III

let the wild rumpus start

Communism

Communism is the idea of having a classless, moneyless and stateless social order. The idea came from Karl Marx and Vladmir Lennin. I can't say I totally agree with their thoughts. In communism you need to keep a lot of secrets from your people and classes can't just be controled by money. People judge others on more than just money. Traveling would also be quite difficult if you live in a communist country and then take a trip to one that uses currency. I feel that if communism would work it would have to use people who dont know any other way to live.

TU Tuesday Classified

http://timesunion.kaango.com/ad-6-year-old-lab-german-shepherd-mix/20572814

I remember the day we first got Anna. Potty Training her was diificult. She would go anywhere, even our my bed! She's like the average dog, not very obiediant but she knows most of them . We weren't too strict with her and the rules. She learned what was good enough to control and that was fine with us. every night she would curl up at the foot of my bed and cuddle with my calf muscles, she "loves to cuddle". I remember when we tried to bring Rio the cat into our house with Anna. We had Anna for about a year when my little sister wanted a cat for christmas. My parents brought in this gorgeous tiger like cat who was very active and playful. Maybe Anna felt like she was being replaced or something but she wouldn't let Rio out of a room. We had to bring Rio back because we felt it was unfair for Anna to have to go if she was here first.

Everyday when we got home from school Anna's tail would be waggling like crazy. She always greeted us as soon as we came in the door. It's like she had so much energy she couldn't contain it. We would always"be greeted with enthusiasm and exuberant body wiggling and tail wagging.". That was just Anna's way of saying hello. I'm gonna miss her now that we're going to have to get rid of her. My dad got laid off so now we have to move into and apartment. It's been six months since he got the pink slip and theres no pets allowed at the apartments. I think my little sister is most sad by the fact of Anna leaving. She's never been without Anna. Mom tried so hard to find a place that would let us keep Anna. Anna has some trust issues though with men so moving to a new place and having to meet new people might be too much of a burden for Anna rather than finding a new permanent home. I hope Anna finds a good place, and a good person will take care of her.

Q=Quesadillas

2 tortilla shelss
1 bag of shredded four cheese
1 sliced cooked chicken breast

1) Take two tortilla shells and put one on a plate
2) Generously sprinkle cheese on the shell, enough to cover the shell.
3) Take sliced chicked and place on the cheese then add another layer of cheese
4) take the other shell and place on the top and heat in the microwave for 3 min.

My dad and I make Quesadillas all the time and something I've completely gotten used to on left over nights. We have these at least once every 2 weeks. My dad and I are super close so this is just another thing we share.

Famous Poem Starters

But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep. You can't always live off other people like a leech, you must do your own work at some point. You have to get up an never give up. If you give up you lose more than your goal. Never stop striving, never stopbeliving. It's easier said than done...

Nursery Rhymes ARE Relevant to Life

http://www-personal.umich.edu/~pfa/dreamhouse/nursery/rhymes/swim.html

"Mother, may I go out to swim?"
"Yes, my darling daughter.
Fold your clothes up neat and trim,
But don't go near the water."

Thi connects to my life because sometimes it feels like I ask my mom if I can gout or do something and she changes the entire point of me going out or the idea my friends and I had planned. It can get really confusing and frustating most of the time.

Butterfly

Mistakes are what make us human
Between simply spilling milk
Or mispronouncing something during a speech
Everyone makes mistakes

Once I made a water baloon
It contained about a gallon of water
Silly I know but popped on our new kitchen
Ruined some of the new wood

This probably sounds ridiculous
But it really was a big mistake
I ended up being grounded to my room
For quite some time

But was beautiful about this
Was I drew pictures the whole time
I filled an entire sketch book
Full of beautiful thoughts

Tim O'Brien

Tim O'Brien is a writer for transportation, the town of Colonie, and recently retail. He was born and raised on long island and got an interest in becoming a reporter from his mother. "I've got my mother's interest in news. The one time of day you couldn't talk to her was the half hour when the evening news was on, so I guess that's why I became a reporter" He went to college at the University of Scranton which turned out to be pretty good trainging for him. "I was taught by Jesuits, who tell you to question everything. Good training for a reporter."
The article I read was about allowing knives during air travel. As someone who travels alot this would be nice. One point made was in defense against hi-jackers "passengers would be able to stop any would-be terrorists if everyone was allowed to bear a blade on board" Another point made was to "make air travel safer and save time in airports". Personally as someone who travels alot I dont think this is a bad idea.

P= Pizza Gram

My restaurant is Pizza Gram. Pizza Gram is located on Western Ave. near Carman Rd. On wednesdays you get the choice of either chicken parm or eggplant parm with either ziti or linguini. it's only $7.99 and then with your drink it rounds it out to around $10. You get sooo much food for this little cost, the piee of chicken is usually bigger than your face. It's really worth it. A con would be that the line is usually half an hour long to get in but a pro is you get served very quickly. Since they're right on western my firnds and I tend to go bowling across the street when we're done. The atmosphere there is so friendly it's something nice to wlook forward to every week. I highly recomend it.

The Book that Changed My Life.

A book that has changed my life believe or it has been Dr.Suess' Oh the Places You'll Go. This book speaks to me because my grandpa used to read it to me all the time because it was hte onnly childrens book in his house. I keep a copy of it in my room because I still like to read it every now and then. The book really talks about keeping your head up and not giving up regardless of wait may be in your path. It motivates me sometimes in life and the main hcaracter really doesnt even have a name, it's like you are the main character.

Bucket List

1) Go back to Greece-I took a trip over febreuary break to Athens and I loved it so much, I would love to go back htere during summer or spend a year abroad there or anything just to go back.

2)Become a doctor- I really like helping other people and becoming a trauma doctor seems like it would such an iteresting thing to do, you'll experience something new everyday

3)Get a jet-ski- My family has a camp on hte St. Lawerence river and I always see jet-skis, the freedom of them beats having a boat and I'm getting my boating liscense this summer.

4)See a Shooting star- I love stars and any chance I get I love to sleep outside underneath them but I still havent seen a shooting star.

5)Get on Tv- I dont have to be famous or anything but if I could get my face on Tv I would be pretty amazed

6)Swim in the Dead Sea- The difference of densities in the water at the Dead Sea makes you float more so swimming there would be something unlike anythinge else and seems like an unforgettable experience

7) Learn to do Hip-hop dancing- I've never learned to dance adn the most I can do is spin in a circle. I'd love to learn how to do real dance moves to my favorite music.

8)Go Fire Walking- It's where you walk over a hot bed of embers, I feel like it would give me some bragging rights.

9)Go zorbing- Zorbing is where you get inside a giant inflatable ball and hold onto these handles/straps on the inside and then you roll down a hill. It sounds super fun.

10) Go on a zero gravity flight- The pilot does this weird manuver in the sky where you will become weightless like in outserspace. It sounds like another super fun thing that I would love love love to try.
